Vastarian: The Knights of Reclamation

And I feel so proud when the reckoning arrives.

Since its creation, we have been thrilled with how many people have gotten involved in our Open Invitational Vastarian - Dreams of the Pious, including through our contest, creating Cult Shrines, and creating civilian cultists. Some people have even created entire warbands that they sent to be used in the event, including an amazing Adeptus Mechanicus Cult by Nicky Grillet. Excitingly, this week, our friend Jake (@master_splinters_pizza_kits) provided us with a warband he created for use in the Vastarian event in Houston this month!

The Knights of Reclamation

The Cult: The core tenet of the Knights of Reclamation focuses on the footprint of each of its souls. What does one body truly need to survive? Their faith calls them to be minimalistic in all things, trusting in the Emperor to provide them with necessities. Living somewhere between contentment and starvation, cult members deny themselves all forms of comfort. Afterall, what is their anguish compared to thousands of years of suffering of their God King? They abhor wastefulness in all its forms, speaking of a day when the scales will be rebalanced and the profligate will be judged by the Emperor.

The People: Before the galaxy sundering events of the fall of the bastion world Cadia, the Knights of Reclamation were a cult that spread primarily among the downtrodden and social outcasts. It takes millions of souls to maintain the labyrinthian catacombs, shrines, and necropolis gardens on Vastarian. These jobs are oftentimes handed down from generation to generation. Due to the isolating nature of these positions/duties, inbreeding is rife among these populations, which results in widespread genetic diseases and mutations, which pushes these believers to further isolate, continuing the cycle.

The Emergence of Saints: The Emperor has awakened our Carrion Queen and her vengeance is righteous. She will tip the scales and wastrels shall suffer as she has suffered.

Holy Saint: Cadaverosa Regina, The Carrion Queen

Cult Colors: Blue and White

Cult Symbols:

The White Triangle - A white triangle typically on a field of azure represents the philosophy of the Cult. The life cycle of all things.

The Raven - Ravens are the messengers of Saint Regina, and are seen all over Vastarian. They are generally thought of as an ill omen, heralding some new doom. To the Followers of Saint Regina, ravens are known to be her eyes and ears. Where a flock gathers, the Carrion Queen’s attention cannot be far off. Followers of Saint Regina illustrate their devotion to her with the symbol of the raven or with raven feathers.

Dramatis Personae:

Deacon Balphus Chaal (Book and Staff) - The Emperor worked through Deacon Chaal to revive a teenage girl who became Saint Katra Rottenmere, Cadaverosa Regina.

Katra Rottenmere (Future Saint) - A selfless teenage girl that was so weak and sickly that she gave herself to her parish to consume. The congregation was overcome with such shame and sorrow at her passing that their tears and prayers brought her back to life after being dead for 7 days. She awoke with violent seizures during the psychic event that is now known as the Emergence of Saints. Katra is silent but focused. She and the Knights now lead a crusade across Vastarian, slowly making their way to Ravachol.

We are incredibly excited to see how the Knights of Reclamation affect the construction of the beacon at Ravachol. We are really thankful that Jake took the time to get involved in the setting!
