Vastarian: the Beacon awaits

We have all seen the signs in our dreams and know deep in our marrow that our apocalypse is nigh. But all is not lost, for we put our Faith in Him.

Take the pilgrimage to Ravachol, bringing resources to construct the beacon. Bring those among your congregation that have psychic aptitude, to power the beacon and illuminate the world.

Finally, most of all, bring faith. For faith in Him is the bedrock of the Imperium and only it can quell the darkness dwelling in our souls, a blackness that is slowly eroding the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep.

The visions were made manifest as they approached the blighted town, a cyclopean lighthouse rising above the detritus of civilization, its light straining amidst a pervasive darkness. A darkness which, if one’s eyes lingered too long in its inky depths, seemed to reveal fits of abstract transformation and derangement. Nothing good could come from the throngs of faithful congregating here, but they would come all the same.

Perhaps it was inevitable, a reflection of the fallibility of the human condition, but not all were agreeable to the erection of an astropathic beacon in Ravachol. But everyone did come to the windswept town at the edge of the world…

Oppressive and unadulterated static filled the noosphere. The Omnissiah beckoned the Church of the Gyro Choir to the planet’s single hyper-radial Fresnel lens, a landfall beacon, blessed by the Machine-God.

Across the blasted wastes of an evaporated sea, Hypatia Etranzi and Special Operations Unit Mitsukurina transport psykers designated for the Black Ships in the shipyards of Ravachol.

The spiritual leaders of the Aeris Sanctus reached a conclusion for the Ravachol conundrum: while it is a noble goal to strip Vastarian of the psykic pall engulfing it, such a task is not for fallible mortals; it is a task for the omniscient Emperor. Taking matters into their own hands will only cause more ruin. What is needed is faith, faith that He will intervene as breath draws short.

The Ecclesiarchy lost hold of Vastarian the moment malignant dreams and oppressive darkness beset the plant. Despite the chaos, their stalwart champions, the Elocutors, continued to prosecute any perceived heretics, leading some to the hyperradiant beacon in Ravachol.

"Hark, what terryble Beast doth slouch from the Outer Black towards Vastarian? Once Man, now nought but a twisted and irrational hunger.

Oh Woe upon thee Blessed Vastarian, for the Eater of Saints doth come to slake his thirst for the Divine, and to sully your soil with his Curse Blackened tread."
