Dragged into Turbolasers Episode 89: How to prevent and overcome hobby burnout
My hobby desk is quite a mess...
In this episode we are joined with the wonderful K0rdhal to talk about how we keep motivated to continue with the miniature hobby and avoid feeling burnt out and uninspired. We touch on the importance of having a strong friend group, in person or virtually, having multiple projects, and always trying to enjoy the process.
I have gone through hobby burnout a bit and it usually more to do with "real life" pressures than with the hobby itself--Kordhal alluded to it when he said he felt guilty doing hobby stuff when he should have been working/studying and I have felt a lot of that with work pressures over the last few years. One thing that helped motivate me was entering a challenge and though the deadlines were sometimes inconvenient they really spurred me on to get some great stuff done.
Yeah, I think that is most often how it is with me too. Real life things make it hard to focus or concentrate. Having a deadline really does help give me something to work towards.
Great episode as usual, gentlemen.
