'Ere we go!

It is no surprise that we are excited about Kill Team, after recording two episodes of the podcast about it, converting a lasrifle for one of the Death Korp models, and painting a Dark Angels Kill Team. These efforts were all focused on the Imperial side of things. Not wanting to leave the Xenos out, particularly when the Ork Kommando models included with Kill Team are so great, I decided to convert one of the models. I chose the Nob model in the kit, as it was my favorite and brought back memories of 2nd edition, with the model’s characteristic hat. After looking more closely at the model, I resolved to keep it largely unchanged, other than removing some unneeded clutter, and changing their firearm, as I tend to do, as evidenced by my growing collection of conversion tutorials!

The Unforgiven: Dark Angels Kill Team

We have been quite excited about the release of the new edition of Kill Team, recording two episodes of the podcast about it. Over the last two months, I painted two female space marines in the Dark Angels livery to support 28’s Female Space Marine challenge. Having finished two models, I realized if I pushed myself to paint three more, I would have a complete Kill Team (Primaris Intercessors)! Having already converted the rest of the squad years ago, it was not long before I had primer on the remaining models and was stippling on Caliban Green paint.

Our friend and talented sculptor Modern Synthesist joins us to discuss the new edition of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. We talk about what excites us about the new skirmish game and how we are approaching making Kill Teams. We touch on how we are more interested in making exciting and characterful models rather than rules, but how we plan to leverage that with the desire to play games. We talk about how the new system appears suitable for playing Inq28 style narrative games, due to its balance between simplicity and granularity. We also discuss what we see in the future of the game, via expansions and new models.

Tutorial: Converting a Death Korp Lasrifle

After converting a better-scaled autorifle earlier this year, I decided to continue the series of true-scale 40k firearms with the humble lasrifle. While I have been meaning to convert a smaller lasrifle for some time, the recent release of the Death Korp of Krieg models for Kill Team gave me the perfect excuse. The official design of the new plastic Death Korp rifles are remarkably cumbersome.
