Last week we finished building a Space Marine based on a converted cast of one of Lunax7070's true-scale Space Marines. Having finished the model about a week before the second annual Smash Bash entries were due, we realized we had just enough time to paint the model for the competition! For such a short turn-around time, we decided the Dark Angel dry-brush scheme would be an ideal choice to get the model painted quickly. I am happy to say we finished the model just in time!
The power armor was painted via dry-brushing, using Caliban Green and Game Color Glacier Blue. |
The pose of the model was made to be reminiscent of a classic piece of Karl Kopinski art of a Crimson Fist Space Marine. |
The Dark Angels symbol was achieved using a decal, while the other shoulder pad design was painted free-hand. |
The model towers over a Primaris-scaled model (left) and even the larger Paul-Friedrich von Bargen 3d sculpted design (right). |

Great paintjob and all of the armour components look very cool. Great stuff - though very large!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yeah, the model is too large to really be used alongside other traditional 40k models. I just need to build more like this one, to go with it, ha ha.
